San Vicente bags Red Orchid Awards from DOH

The Department of Health has awarded San Vicente Ilocos  Sur its first-ever Red Orchid Award for having the “Best Anti-Smoking Initiatives” among local government units in the national level.

The award was received by the  Smoke Free Advisory Coordinators and Municipal Smoke Free Task Force Headed by Dr. Amado Viesta Jr,  and Public Health Nurse Reygee Rocero, last Thursday Nov. 9, 2017 at Fort Ilocandia Resort and Casino ,  Laoag City, Ilocos  Norte,

San Vicente ,  garnered a score of 91 percent based on DOH’s set criteria for implementing a 100 percent Tobacco-Free Environment.

Mayor  Jose Tabanda III,  said his administration is honored and proud to receive the award, with the active support of the community including the private sector for their help in the information dissemination regarding the ill-effects of smoking, and the strong implementation of anti-smoking ordinance.

The Municipal Government  received a trophy, certificate, and P100,000.
The Red Orchid Award is the highest distinction given by the DOH on anti-smoking advocacy of local government units, government hospitals and offices, and DOH centers nationwide.
