Municipality of San Vicente, declared as ” DRUG-CLEARED”


  The Municipality of San Vicente in Ilocos Sur  is now ”  drug free “. The Regional Oversight Committee composed of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG),PhilippineNational Police, Department of Health and the Local Government Unit declared the  seven  barangays of San Vicente  town as “cleared” or free of illegal drug activities.

The declaration was based on the evaluation made by the Oversight Committee chaired by PDEA RO1 Director Bryan Babang ,with Department of Interior and Local Government, Philippine National Police, local government unit and  the Department of Health.

SanVicente  was issued a certification stating that the municipality is drug-free after complying with 14 parameters set forth by the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) as provided in Section 8, DDB Board Regulation No. 3 Series of 2017, otherwise known as “Strengthening the Implementation of the Barangay Drug Clearing Program”.

Under the Dangerous Drugs Board Regulation No. 3 series of 2017, a drug-free municipality meets the following requirements: non-availability of drug supply, absence of drug den, pusher, user and absence of clandestine drug laboratory including the active involvement of barangay officials in anti-drug activities such as drug awareness, and related programs.

Mayor  Jose Tabanda III, congratulated local authorities , for a job well done as he encouraged his constituents to cooperate with the government in maintaining the “drug-cleared” status of the town, the first drugcleared municipality in the first district of Ilocos Sur.
